Downscaling Sensor Voltage for roboRIO with Protection

Circuit Description

Graph image for Downscaling Sensor Voltage for roboRIO with Protection

Circuit Graph

We have an inclinometer sensor that outputs 0 to 10 V, when it is at -180° the output is 0 V, when at 0° the output is 5 V, and when it is at +180° the output is 10 V. The roboRIO analog inputs are rated to nominal input voltages of 0 to 5 V. So, in order to acquire data from this sensor we need to downscale its voltage output. A simple voltage divider circuit can very easily do the job. This circuit also shows some protection ideas to prevent damages to the roboRIO analog inputs.
